Hi, I’m Cécile. Welcome to The Right Balance.
It’s always hard to find the right words to describe ourselves but if I had to pick a few, I would simply say the following:
I am a woman and a solo backpacker.
I moved from the South of France, where I was born and raised, to London in 2006. I’ve spent most of my time working as a financial journalist since then.
But, as much as I enjoy this job, what really helps me find a sense of purpose and balance in life is travelling. I’ve visited more than twenty countries over the past ten years, mostly solo.
Many people think this is bizarre or crazy. That’s actually the feedback I get when I say I often travel on my own. But, to me, travelling solo is a good way to push back our own boundaries and overcome our fears.
Far greater still than that, it remains the best way to really get to talk to people.
Over time, I’ve had the chance to meet with some wonderful people who opened their home to me, offered me a meal and spent hours talking about their country and culture. These encounters are priceless and I always find myself with hundreds of photos to show and stories to tell when I get home.
That’s how The Right Balance was born. The idea of this blog is to share with you some of my travel experiences.
My aim is to encourage you to go and see the world. And if you’re willing to go solo, even better. I hope you enjoy the site.
